Unveiling of Corridor Mural in Crystal River

Join the Florida Wildlife Corridor Foundation for an engaging night of art, film and refreshments!

You are invited to celebrate the unveiling of the Crystal River Mural and enjoy a screening and panel discussion of our most recent expedition film, “Home Waters” on December 12th in downtown Crystal River!

The Crystal River mural by artist Kelly Quinn with Canvas of the Wild features species native to the local ecosystem, including Florida black bears, roseate spoonbills and, of course, manatees. The interactive mural is embedded with near-field communication (NFC) tags that allow viewers to explore a digital version of the mural and learn more about the species and ecosystem featured. Crystal River is a perfect location for the inaugural mural in our multi-town campaign because of its significance as a critical linkage of the Florida Wildlife Corridor.

Directly following the unveiling, attendees can enjoy an outdoor screening of our newest expedition film “Home Waters” by Jenny Adler and Ian Segebarth. The 15-minute film follows the journey of three local high school students as they trek 50 miles of the Nature Coast. Learn about the expedition directly from the youth trekkers in a panel discussion and Q&A following the screening.

Mayor Joe Meek and Citrus County Chamber President and CEO, Josh Wooten will address Crystal River’s unique position within the Florida Wildlife Corridor.
