Things to Do at St Augustine Lighthouse
Climb the St Augustine Lighthouse
Climb 219 steps to the top of the lighthouse, where you’re greeted by panoramic views of the coastline, Matanzas River, and inland. At the top, you’ll find a knowledgeable guide who can answer questions about the view, the lighthouse, and the area’s history.
Is the climb worth it? Here’s what we think.
Explore the Museum
Explore the history of the lighthouse at the museum, located in the old keeper’s house, which has interactive exhibits and artifacts. There’s also an on-site boat builders workshop where, if you’re lucky, you can catch a volunteer working on a wooden craft.
Like history? Fort Matanzas National Monument is an off-the-beaten path gem just 20 minutes from the St Augustine Lighthouse.
Walk the Grounds
Around the lighthouse, you’ll find a short walking trail and some pretty gardens nestled under the live oaks. It’s a great place to escape the heat!
Check out Washington Oaks Gardens State Park for more beautiful gardens and ocean views.
