What is Live Wildly?

Live Wildly was created to raise public awareness and support for wildlife corridor conservation, and jump-start a movement to fully protect and connect these critical networks. Through collaboration with partner organizations, Live Wildly is helping citizens understand their direct connection to Corridors, and the value they play in everyday life.

We’re on a mission to FIRST help protect and conserve the iconic Florida Wildlife Corridor – and secure the remaining 46% of its vast network that is at risk.

The Campaign launch in April 2022 champions the connection between Florida’s environmental and economic interests, between its immediate and long-term needs, between sections of the Florida Wildlife Corridor itself.  Economically and ecologically, culturally and commercially, the Florida Wildlife Corridor is integral to Florida’s future. And to keep Florida, Florida, we must never lose sight of this nature/business symmetry that is essential to the state’s identity. By keeping the Florida Wildlife Corridor connected, we can ensure Florida will stay true to its soul and continue to be a place where wild is always welcome. Live Wildly is a 501(c)3 organization.

What inspired Live Wildly? Why now, and why Florida?

Live Wildly builds upon the legacy work of its launch partners – The Florida Wildlife Corridor Foundation, Archbold Biological Station, Path of the Panther and Conservation Florida – along with the many organizations working tirelessly to protect and connect the Florida Wildlife Corridor (and others) today, and for generations to come.

Why now?  Well, we decided to ask Floridians – in particular – what they knew about wildlife corridors. What we found is most people don’t know much about them, or the HUGE value they play in local economies, ecology and community well-being. BUT, people love the many things corridors provide – like agricultural bounties, good times and clean water.

Our epiphany… people already love The Florida Wildlife Corridor; they just don’t know it yet!

Combine this knowledge with the wild ethos that is Florida, and Live Wildly was born.

Home to gators and good times of all species and sizes, Florida marches, casts, harpoons, climbs, and plunges to the beat of its own drummer. Florida’s wildlife corridor exemplifies this spirit, its biodiversity and natural richness a fitting metaphor for the state (and the campaign) itself.

What is the Florida Wildlife Corridor?

Stretching from the Panhandle to the Everglades, the Florida Wildlife Corridor is a state-wide network of public and private lands encompassing nearly 18 million acres, or nearly 50% of the Sunshine State.
