Things to Do at Ponce de Leon Springs State Park
Take a Dip: Ponce de Leon Springs is a favorite in the summer when the perfectly cool 68-degree waters help to beat the heat of a sweltering Florida day. Swim through the spring’s clear waters or wade in the spring run – a favorite spot for families with small kids. Those feeling more adventurous will want to line up to leap into the waters from one of the slightly elevated jumping platforms.
Walk along Sandy Creek: There isn’t a ton of hiking in Ponce de Leon Springs, but you can easily stretch your legs on the 0.7-mile walking path that weaves along the edge of Sandy Creek. If you get too hot, you can always jump in the water and follow it back to the springs.
Enjoy a Family Picnic: Families will love the opportunity to spend a full day at the springs, alternating between swimming or floating and enjoying a picnic on the grounds. There are four picnic shelters available for advanced reservation, or you can simply set up on the lawn with all your favorite food and beverages (alcoholic drinks are not allowed). You’re also welcome to bring your own grill.
