Ryan Worthington
Ryan Worthington grew up in Florida State Parks — his father was a park ranger, and the trails, springs, and forests of this state were simply home. That upbringing turned into a lifelong commitment to exploring Florida’s wild places and making sure others get to experience them too. He’s known as The Florida Excursionist.
The Explorer:
A Florida Master Naturalist, Ryan covers conservation areas across the state, documenting what he finds through social media, guided hikes, and his podcast The Florida Madcaps. He hikes and wades into the kind of places most people don’t know exist — then brings his audience right along with him.
Rooted in the Parks:
When he’s not exploring, Ryan volunteers at several state parks and advocates for expanding conservation lands and protecting Florida’s natural resources. Magnolia Lake along the Florida Trail — the place his father took him almost every day as a child — remains the spot that stays with him most.
Why Florida:
“Florida is an amazing place, from the Everglades to the springs — we have so many natural wonders that are unique here. I enjoy exploring them and showing others how special they really are.”
